Oli Adams wins The AXL DOH Pro

Rest Bay, Porthcawl Wales

Oli Adams wins his first UK Pro Surf Tour event, the AXL / DOH Pro at Rest Bay Porthcawl. Former British and New Zealand Junior champion excelled in the surf conditions to take the title of the biggest surf event in Wales.

Oli commented &#8220;People do not understand how much this means to me, I have been suffering from an illness over the last few years and am now getting back to full fitness. To beat Johnny, Russ and Egor in the final is a fantastic feeling&#8221;

Second place went to English Champion Johnny Fryer (Isle of White), whose vertical backhand attack managed to outpoint the rest of the field. Third went to wave-shy Russell Winter (Newquay) and fourth to Mark &#8216;Egor&#8217; Harris who has now reached the final of the last four UK Pro Surf Tour events.

In the Under 16 Boys division Leon Mansfield (Newquay) showed his class by winning his second UK Pro Surf Tour event in a row consolidating his position at the top of the rankings. Second place went to Zack Lawton (Croyde), his best result on the Grommet tour. A remarkable third went to Under 12 surfer Max Payne (Wadebridge) and coming fourth local surfer Max Tucker.

Dave Reed Tour Director said &#8220;The ninth Welsh UK Pro Surf Tour event, the AXL / DOH Pro was blessed with good waves showing the quality of the surf in this region. Thanks to the support of the sponsors AXL Distribution and Double Overhead at short notice, the event has been one of the best we have seen in Wales. With 12 months to plan for next year and the support of the sponsors I am sure it will be even better&#8221;.

Winning the Relentless Money Move for the Best Cut-back was Matt Capel (S Devon), who took home £250. The King of Watersports highest scoring wave went to Oli Adams who achieved the best wave of the contest in his semi-final heat.

Jakub is sufficiently self-confident, single-minded, and creative, with good communication skills. He is up to speed and he does not disvalue education. In his sixteen he didn&#8217;t hesitate to take the role of a cocommentator in the live broadcast of the Czech television&#8230; He is not short of enthusiasm and selflessness, his personal style and above all his ambition are aiming far behind the border of the local scene. He enjoys sport, but at the same time he is prepared to devote his free time to a systematic and hard training.
Jakub started his racing career in 2000, when he sat down on BMX. Since that time he has been collecting laurel, and not only among the home competitors. He managed to win in the European BMX Cup several times. Last year he won the Czech BMX Championships, the Bohemian and Moravian BMX Cup, a round of the Czech Fourcross League in the Rookie category. In his second complete fourcross season he won a race of the Czech Cup race in the Expert category, which meant only one thing &#8211; obligatory transfer among contestants of the Elite category. The Polis.Racing team member looks very expertly for his age on the track. He is not afraid of fights with anybody. In the first heat in Canberra he was supposed to have a fight with a rider of the same age, an American, Mitch Ropelato, USA champion, second in the World Cup in Bromont. Jakub was looking forward to that fight. He said he wanted to beat him by miles. And he did what he had said&#8230;

The second place in the qualification race Canberra Fourcross Qualifier was not by a chance. The Polis.Racing team rider on the French bike Lapierre Airzone, the ward of the trainer Milan Krebs, proved this on Friday on July 4, 2009 in the Australian metropolis. After he arrived to the southern hemisphere he had to cope with the long journey, asynchrony, but mainly with the fact that his bike and bikes of the entire Czech representation were not delivered by the airlines. He entered the qualification as the last. He was on the nineteenth place. But he phoned home that he was not satisfied and had to train more. On Friday in the evening he stood on the starting platform at the side of the biggest world aces in fourcross. With a little good luck he won the bronze! Later on, on the press conference, he was able to answer the journalist&#8217;s questions with fluent English &#8230;

How did you start?
It started with BMX sometime in 1999, when a shop assistant of my father who rode BMX made us to join it. Later, sometime in 2003, I rode my first fourcross, but two years later I got to a hospital, so I had to take a gap and I did not start again until 2007 when I rode the entire cup for the first time.

What did you expect from your journey to Australia?
I was the backup man, so I even didn&#8217;t know what to expect. It was only my third fourcross season and the first World Championships.

What did you think about the World Championships?
I&#8217;m a BMX rider so I liked the track on the whole. But I&#8217;m seventeen and I&#8217;m not so strong, so the ways out from the turns were rather difficult for me. The entire track was rather physically challenging.

What bike do you ride?
I use the Airzone frame of the French trademark Lapierre and it was really a good shot! With the components from Manitou, Hayes, Kore, ODI, and Shaman Racing the mechanic Dlouhan from 93 95 Bikes assembled a super bike! The tires and wheels from WTB are quick as a streak, so there is no excuse for me.

How did you succeeded in qualification?
I was not satisfied very much with the nineteenth place. I was the very last to start, I rather froze on the top and I wasn&#8217;t able to let it rip on the first two straights. I even didn&#8217;t succeed in the second jump.

Can you shortly describe the today&#8217;s race?
I was always a little bit lucky when I moved to the finals. I didn&#8217;t succeed at the start, but Rafael Alvarez dropped down right at the beginning. I was rather down with my strengths, but I put my heart to it, because I wanted the medal. And I managed to get it. I even didn&#8217;t believe I was in the finals.

Were you nervous?
I was enjoying all of this. I didn&#8217;t want to stress myself. Maybe this is what helped me so much.

And you weren&#8217;t nervous even in the finals?
No. Even at the start in the finals I weren&#8217;t nervous. I said to myself: I got it!

What will be the celebration?
I still don&#8217;t know, but I hope the whole Czech team will celebrate.

September is here, are you looking forward to school or better to skipping the school?
I study promotional graphics on the Secondary Art School in Pisek. I like it. I would like to do it also in the university. If I do not ride my bike as it happens, I go to a pitbike, in winter I do snowboarding or crosscountry skiing with my family. Sometimes I go to cinema, to a concert or with a girl... I would like to achieve something, but I know that partying can&#8217;t help me&#8230;

Join THE FOURCROSS ALLIANCE!

The conclusion from the first ever Fourcross Workshop held on May 1st in Houffalize was clear&#8230; The Fourcross is wasting wide range of opportunities just because there is no official representative for our discipline that could be taken as a serious partner for UCI, UEC, national federations, media, organizers, track builders, athletes, teams and sponsors. They all could help Fourcross to be bigger and better. The problem was that we were nothing but individuals with almost no power to change anything. The Fourcross Workshop was great take-off for months of further talks leading in the unique agreement: After eight UCI 4X World Cup seasons it is about time to establish an official platform open to anybody involved in Fourcross.

UK Pro Surf Tour event cancelled

St Ives Open &#8211; Cancelled for 2009
Event 4 - UK Pro Surf Tour 2009

Event 4 on the UK Pro Surf Tour 2009, the St Ives Open, has been cancelled. Scheduled to take place on the weekend of 4th 5th September at Porthmeor Beach, St Ives. The event clashed with a local charity event who also wanting to use the same beach. In addition it clashed with the Billabong British Juniors being held at Fistral Beach. Alternative dates were looked at and alternative sponsorship sort, but in the present economic climate and the hectic schedule of surf events this time of year the decision had to be made to cancel.

<div align="center"><img src="http://www.extremesponsors.com/news/images/news_ukpsabanner.jpg"></div>

It is with great disappointment that the event is cancelled, it must also be disappointing to the surfers and spectators who were planning to attend. After two very successful events on previous years this annual event will now come to an end.

The UK Pro Surf Tour will now move onto the next event; the Elusive Welsh Open scheduled to be held at Rest Bay Porthcawl on 10th 11th October.

Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2009 in Madrid - Victor Dany Torres

<div align="center"><img src="http://www.extremesponsors.com/news/images/Red_Bull_Dany_Torres.jpg"></div>

<b>Spanish rider Dany Torres grabbed victory in front of 23,000 fans at the fourth stop of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2009 in Madrid on Friday night. Two icons of the FMX scene, America&#8217;s Nate Adams and Australia&#8217;s Robbie Maddison, took second and third place respectively in the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas bullfighting arena as the Red Bull X-Fighters touched down in the Spanish capital for the tenth time.
MADRID (ESP). It was 100% action right from the start for the famously fanatical Madrid fans &#8211; equipped as always with chainsaw motors and tens of thousands of traditional white handkerchiefs &#8211; as Charles Pagès (FRA) used the opening jump of the night to try to become the first ever rider to land a frontflip on a motocross bike. Despite having his 100 kg bike under control for the whole rotation, the Frenchman was unlucky two come up slightly short on both his attempts.</b>

Local FMX matador Torres threw down a spectacular run in his Semi Final to convince the judges and leave his opponent, America&#8217;s Jeremy Stenberg, with no chance as he advanced to the Final. There, the 22-year-old from Seville came up against the winner of the previous X-Fighters event in Texas, Nate Adams (USA), who had himself eliminated Tower Bridge conqueror Robbie Maddison in their Semi Final.

Cameron Sinclair crashed hard in the quarter finals and was brought to hospital.

Following the first European stop of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2009, Nate Adams (USA) has taken over the lead in the overall standings with 225 points, ten ahead of the previous leader Eigo Sato (JPA), who could only manage ninth place in Madrid. The Japanese rider is closely followed by Mat Rebeaud (SUI) and Robbie Maddison (AUS), equal on 210 points.

The final stop of the international FMX tour takes place at London&#8217;s Battersea Power Station on 22 August 2009.

Trees for Jet skis: Big wave Tow-in Jet ski goes Carbon Neutral

Northcore made the announcement today that they are extending their annual CO2 offsetting program to cover the Jet ski (Personal Watercraft- PWC) used by their brand Ambassador Richie Fitzgerald, by neutralising its annual Carbon emissions by investing in a tree adoption and re-forestation scheme.

Northcore spokesman said of the Jet ski- initiative &#8220;Richie Fitzgerald and his tow-in partner, Gabe Davies have a Jet-ski on permenant standby on Ireland's West coast which they use for charging some of the biggest waves on the planet at places like Aileens in Co Clare.

<div align="center"><img src="http://www.extremesponsors.com/news/images/news_Jetski.jpg"></div>

However the use of Jet Skis can pose a moral environmental dilema for tow-in teams worldwide. Its no secret that the use of Jet Skis isn't the most eco-friendly addition to the surfing way of life, so until a viable &#8220;green&#8221; alternative to internal combustion for PWC's is available these vehicles and the emissions they create will remain in the line ups as essential equipment for chasing down monster waves. So Northcore in conjunction with Richie have taken the decision to offset the annual CO2 emmissions of his and Gabe's PWC by extending our tree planting scheme administered by the Dutch based organisation, Climate Neutral Group.

The CO2 offsetting is based upon the annual fuel usage for Richie's Jet ski which creates approximately 1.28 tonnes of CO2 and it requires 64 mature rainforest trees to offset this emmission. These trees are growing in a re-forestation scheme in Malaysia and through the adoption programme both offset the PWC's CO2 and allow continued investment in the scheme with the planting of new trees extending the project&#8221;

Richie Fitzgerald says of his Jet ski going Carbon neutral &#8220;Jet Skis are a &#8216;necessary evil&#8217; in the pursuits of big waves, so I am really delighted to be working with Northcore on their initiative to offset the annual emissions of our ski .&#8221;

The Climate Neutral group are in permanent partnership with the FACE foundation who manage the reforestation project in the forests of Sabah in the Malaysian part of Borneo. Here the forests are being seriously damaged by intensive and large-scale logging. The area has become overgrown with lianas, preventing the natural re-growth of most trees. The FACE foundation set up a project to recover the damaged tropical rainforest by planting trees and through sustainable management. Left to its own devices the rainforest would not be able to return to its original state. Besides extracting a volume of CO2 from the atmosphere each year, this project is preserving the outstanding biodiversity of the area. Moreover, the project provides jobs for local people in tourism, research and nature management.

In his personal life as well as through his employment, Steve has demonstrated his passion for the enrichment of our community spending countless hours of time, both personal and on the job to promote goodwill. As Allied Brand Manager for Hansen&#8217;s Beverage Company he is able to assist a multitude of organizations that are designed to promote the well being of individuals throughout the State. His involvement, particularly with the action sports industry has given him the opportunity to have a &#8220;hands on&#8221; connection with many teens and young adults, hoping to influence and mold them into individuals who will in turn reciprocate goodwill to others, after all, acts of kindness and concern can leave a &#8220;mark&#8221; on someone whose path you might cross.

&#8220;I&#8217;m sincerely thankful and appreciative for the wonderful opportunity coastline community college and it&#8217;s board of directors has provided me with,&#8221; says Jugan.

Transition Bikes re-defines &#8216;all-mountain&#8217; genre with an all new Covert

Moving forward into a new realm of design, Transition Bikes has completely revamped the existing Covert all mountain bike to create a new 6&#8221; travel quiver-killing bike capable of more aggressive riding. The new Covert sports a refined frame at the same weight as the old model, but is significantly stronger. The new frame comes in at a respectable 6.7 lbs without rear shock, and builds up to a 28-32 lb bike made for efficient long days in the saddle

<div align="center"><img src="http://www.extremesponsors.com/news/images/news_transition1.jpg"></div>

At the core of the Covert is a completely new proprietary tubeset designed by Transition Bikes. The new tubes create a stronger frame with better contact points for welding shock mounts, pivots, and the headtube. In addition to the new tubes Transition has created a one piece CNC&#8217;d rocker link to increase stiffness and strength, as well as new dropouts and chainstay/seatstay yokes. All these new features not only add to the aesthetics of the bike but increase strength while shedding weight.

Rear suspension is handled by the Fox RP23 large volume or DHX 5.0 Air. The shock rate on the Covert is slightly progressive with only a 2.8% change throughout the stroke. This allows for consistent feel throughout the travel and allows for easy tuning and setup of the shock. As the Covert goes through it&#8217;s travel, the leverage decreases slightly and allows the natural progressiveness of the air shock to ramp up and soak up large bumps and hits. This also gives the bike excellent small bump sensitivity and feel at the top of the stroke while allowing the rider to use the travel without a harsh bottom out.

<div align="center"><img src="http://www.extremesponsors.com/news/images/news_transition2.jpg"></div>

Alongside the Covert&#8217;s structural refinement, the geometry has progressed to be modeled around a 160mm singlecrown fork, such as a Fox 36 or Lyric. The new geometry maintains the all mountain roots of the old Covert which was very climb friendly and nimble, but gets slackened out just a bit to make room for the larger fork without raising the BB. &#8220;Geometry and fit is everything in a bike and that is why we didn&#8217;t change the geo and sizing too much on the Covert. We really felt like we hit some perfect numbers on the Covert and our customers loved it. On the re-design we made sure to maintain that magic fit and feel that we loved about the bike,&#8221; says Kyle Young, owner of Transition Bikes.

&#8220;When we released the Covert we were really going for a lightweight all mountain only frame but soon found our customers putting larger forks on the bikes and pushing the limits of the design. Most of these customers are people that can only have one bike but love to pedal singletrack and also hit more aggressive freeride trails. They needed a bike that could handle both. Our solution was to make the Covert work for both worlds without the weight penalty. The reality is that mountain bikes are expensive and while most riders would love to have a full quiver of bikes, they can only afford one bike that needs to do everything,&#8221; says Kevin Menard, owner of Transition Bikes.

<div align="center"><img src="http://www.extremesponsors.com/news/images/news_transition3.jpg"></div>

Additional features include internal chainstay cable routing which is super easy to setup and change the housing and a tapered headtube which allows for excellent weld contact for the top and down tubes as well as providing lower stack heights for the handlebar and fork. Transition Bikes will also be releasing a headset for sale with the frame for both tapered and traditional 1-1/8&#8221; steer tubes.

Transition plans to be shipping the Coverts by early June just in time for prime riding conditions.

Minneapolis, MN &#8212; May 26, 2009 &#8212; Professional bicycle rider and full time software developer, Dustin Griess has released Cycling Grub and MTB Grub, two bicycle-specific applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Grub is a simple collection of the latest and most pertinent news organized into one application. Both applications are available for download from Apple&#8217;s iTunes App Store at no cost.

"Checking news from a dozen sites through your mobile phone is very time consuming" says Griess. "Not only is this application an exciting new tool for riders, but it is also breaking new ground on mobile device communication". Cycling Grub and MTB Grub are officially the first bicycle news-specific aggregators available in the App Store.

With the touch of a finger, road bike and mountain bike enthusiasts can browse through the latest web content from professional media, blogs, vendors, and dealers. In addition to providing quick and easy access to news & media, Cycling Grub and MTB Grub are also raising awareness of World Bicycle Relief, a non-profit organization specializing in comprehensive bicycle programs supporting healthcare, education, economic development and disaster relief initiatives. To date, the organization has provided more than 50,000 new bicycles in underdeveloped regions of the world.

In 2006, Griess launched a series of websites, including InterBMX.com and InterMTB.com, utilized by thousands of athletes worldwide. Griess released his first "Grub" application earlier this year entitled BMX Grub, followed by Skate Grub which is currently listed among iTunes Top 25 Sports Applications.
CORPORATE BRAND MANAGER PUSHES LIFE AND BRAND TO EXTREMES

<div align="center"><img src="http://www.extremesponsors.com/news/images/hexathlon_top.jpg" width="450" height="72" border="0"></div>
<b>San Diego, CA</b>
<b>Steve Jugan Crowned Executive Level Crossover Athlete 2009 Push Champion</b>

When Steve Jugan Allied Brand manager for Hansen&#8217;s Beverage Company decided to make Lost Energy the title sponsor for an ultimate actions sports adventure game, he decided to show his true and pure dedication by walking the walk or should we say Board, Ride, Bike, Skate, Wake and Surf. Jugan from Yorba Linda, California joined a group of other action sport junkies to do something that has never been done before and be part of The Push-Lost Energy invitational. The Push is a one day, non-stop &#8220;Hexathlon&#8221; of action sports designed to literally push an athlete both mentally and physically from one event to another for 15 hours straight across 160 miles of some of Southern California&#8217;s most beautiful locations.

<div align="center"><img src="http://www.extremesponsors.com/news/images/hexathlon_bottom.jpg" width="450" height="201" border="0"></div>

Jugan, the self-professed action sports enthusiast and native of California, has spent most of his life in the snow, dirt and surf, so when the founder of The Push Bob Krause and partner Marco Thompson approached him he was sold. &#8220;I get a ton of pitches from people with a lot of ideas, but I had never heard of an event quite like this one,&#8221; said Jugan. Convinced that the event catered to hit his target demographics and psychographics, he offered his event prowess to the table and became the title sponsor. &#8220;The Push is a wicked combination of six of the most popular action sports - Snowboarding, Motocross, Downhill Mountain Biking, Skateboarding, Wakeboarding and Surfing - all mixed up into a day long adventure,&#8221; says Krause, the creator of The Push. This concept was devised by him and his 18 year old son Ryan as the ultimate father-son bonding experience in which they completed 23 non stop action sports while traveling over 300 miles across southern California all in one day.

The Push was held on March 28, 2009, participants included Amateur and Pro athletes as well as a mix of sport enthusiasts and business executive types all hoping to be crowned the worlds best crossover athlete. Participants arrived Friday night March 27th at the Lake Arrowhead Resort for an evening of schmoozing, food and some basic training. At 8am the next morning they were on the slopes and ready to roll. From that point on participants drove from location to location showing off their very best to the judges while the event organizers had every type of board and bike waiting for them at each location.

&#8220;I can&#8217;t wipe the smile off my face, 2010 is going to be unreal,&#8221; says Jugan. &#8220;Only in So-Cal can you be on the slopes in the morning, ride the desert in the day and then surf until the sun goes down.

Go Green With the FlexComb!

Liquid Vision Industries (LVI) has been manufacturing the FlexComb® since 2003. Since then the FlexComb® is now considered by many in the industry to be the new standard for all waxcombs. In line with the surfing market's environmental concerns, the company has utilized recycled plastic in the manufacturing of all its products since the beginning... we are very proud to say every FlexComb® ever manufactured is made from recycled plastic!
Liquid Vision is proud to offer custom co-branding on our FlexCombs!

<div align="center"><img src="http://www.extremesponsors.com/news/images/news_liquidvision_image.jpg"></div>

If you are a store owner, corporate business, brand name buyer, or just have a cool logo you want on your Flexcombs...no problem! We can handle your order in two different ways:

Custom Engraved Flexcombs:TheFlexComb® and FlexTools® are used as boardshort, apparel attachments, and hangtags for many big name companies.

Pad Printed Flexcombs: TheFlexComb® is a great option for inexpensive / cost effective advertising. Many of out clients use the pad printed method for giveaways at expos and contests. It also makes for the ultimate business card. Another important note, a majority of the surf shops carry the pad-printed FlexCombs because they can have their logo on the industry's best waxcomb and can also write it off as an advertising expense due to having their shop logo on it!

Both options are equally great due to you are supporting the use of recycled products, and bettering our environment.

Liquid Vision... Innovating the industry one product at a time. For more information check out:

RIP CURL LAUNCH NEW ECO SCHEME AND ANNOUNCE WCT THE SEARCH DESTINATION FROM NEWQUAY STORE

Europe&#8217;s flagship store in Newquay, UK, has announced it will be launching a national &#8216;Wetsuit Amnesty&#8217; to support the brands global commitment to protecting the environment, and also has plans for a global SEARCH WCT event location announcement in-store on Saturday 2nd May 2009.

Renowned for developing and producing the worlds leading wetsuits, Rip Curl are now pioneering wetsuit recycling through their Project Resurrection, giving old unused wetsuits a new lease of life. As part of an ongoing promotion showcasing the Rip Curl Planet Foundation initiatives throughout April the Newquay store is calling on all surfers and wetsuit owners to search their garages and basements for their old neoprene and bring them into the store to be crushed into Resurrection Rubber and reused in manufacturing new products, helping to cut down on the waste going into landfill sites and the materials produced to create new products.

Rip Curl will be offering pairs of Project Resurrection sandals in return for all wetsuits brought into the Newquay store between 10am to 6pm on Saturday 2nd May 2009. Commenting on the initiative Rip Curl&#8217;s Marketing Manager James Hendy said, &#8220;Our Newquay store is a great launch pad for the wetsuit amnesty, people can bring in their old suits on the day and walk out with the finished result on their feet, experiencing first hand the benefits of recycling their waste and investing in recycled products for the future&#8221;. He went on to say, &#8220;Rip Curl are extremely proud to have the largest range of ecological products available in the surf sports industry and being able to engage the public with our commitment to more sustainable products through our stores is really exciting&#8221;.

As part of Rip Curl&#8217;s ongoing Planet Foundation, which has environmental projects running across the world, including their acclaimed &#8216;Coral Guard&#8217;, the Newquay store will be giving away travel journals with in-store purchases throughout April and offering 2 people the chance to win a trip to Tahiti where the last Coral Guard action took place.

In addition to the Rip Curl Planet activity on Saturday 2nd May, there will also be a screening of the new surf film from Relentless Energy: &#8220;Relentless Revolution - Powers of Three&#8221; which features Rip Curl surfer, and Eco Ambassador, Tom Lowe, a live band in-store, a free Rip Curl Planet Pack giveaway with every in-store purchase, a chance to meet the pro team, and a very special Rip Curl SEARCH WCT event announcement direct from Rip Curl headquarters in Australia. &#8220;It&#8217;s going to be a really exciting day&#8221;, said Hendy, &#8220;especially with the variety of old suits we&#8217;re expecting to receive, but the Search WCT event location announcement will be the icing on the cake, it&#8217;s a real privilege to have Newquay shouting The SEARCH event location to the rest of the world&#8221;.

Speculation has been rising to the whereabouts of the next Rip Curl WCT Search event, but following world-class events held in Mexico, Indonesia and Reunion Island in previous years The Search event in 2009 is sure to be at a dream destination.

Come along to the store on Saturday May 2nd from 6pm to be a part of Rip Curl&#8217;s leading initiatives to protect the environment, and bring your old wetsuits with you!

GULDEMOND TAKES FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON AT 5STAR ASIAN OPEN PARKSTYLE

The 5Star Nissan X-Trail Asian Open in Alts Bandai, Japan, saw riders going head to head today in one of the last remaining Slopestyle contests of the season. Under blue skies, Chas Guldemond (USA) and Chanelle Sladics (USA) took out the respective titles, each earning 850 Swatch TTR ranking points and $15 000 USD. Guldemond's win helps him maintain his World No.2 position with Charles Reid (CAN) coming second and moving into World No.6. Jamie Anderson came in second, also extending her Tour lead.

Despite Japan's unusual lack of snow, the shaping crew at Alts Bandai had constructed a sick course which brought out the best in every participating rider. It was comprised of a street style down rail, two perfect kickers and a box, to a flat down box. The three run format gave riders a chance to mix it up and ensured the level of riding progressed steadily throughout the day.

Chanelle Sladics rode solidly all day and snatched victory in her final run, stomping a FS Boardslide to Fakie, followed by a massive Cab 5 Mute to FS 5 Indy, to FS Tailslide to Fakie. In doing so she earned her first ever Swatch TTR victory and moved into World No.24. "I made the first place. That feels amazing. I will definitely be working my way up on the TTR and I think that will help", she said.

Second place getter, Jamie Anderson (USA) demonstrated why she is last season's Swatch TTR World Tour Champion and current World No.1. Despite just coming out of a six week recovery period for a broken pelvis she was still ruling the course with smooth 5s and Tailslides.. "I am stoked. It was a good day and some fun times. The girls were killing it today", said Anderson. In third place was Silvia Mittermuller (GER), who moved up to World No. 7 with a banger run that included a corked switch BS 5 and monster FS 7 closely followed by Spencer O'Brien (USA) who had just missed the podium today with a 4th place but moves up the ranking into World No. 8. Jordie Karlinski, who had not made the finals on Thursday, is one of the only girls in the Top 10 with 7 results on her account. Her points from the Parkstyle competition pushes her into World No. 2. (USA). Silvia Mittermueller (GER) now sits in World No.7, just in front of Spencer O'Brien (CAN) in World No.8 &#8211; both of them able to break into the TTR Top 5 at the end of the season.

In the men's competition, Chas Guldemond asserted his Slopestyle prowess. Starting off with a Nosepress 270, to a Cab 9 Melon, followed by a BS 12 to Boardslide 270 out. "It feels great - I am so stoked to be out here in Japan and to be surrounded by all these good people. I will be back here next year for the X-Trail Jam and Asian Open - count on it", said Chas. Following him in second place was Charles Reid, who stomped his trademark Doublecork 1080 in the last run, moving up to World No.6. "I am gonna try to keep it until US Open. I will work hard for the Top 5 spot", he said. The podium was rounded out by Fredrik Evensen (NOR) who advanced 84 places up the Swatch TTR ranking to World No.64. Mason Aguirre, who finished today's finals in 12th, makes the jump in the TTR Top 10 bringing him closer to realizing his ambitious goal, the TTR Top 5.

Despite not riding in this event, Piiroinen (FIN) maintains his Swatch TTR World No.1 spot with Guldemond still following close behind in World No.2. Mason Aguirre (USA) has now moved up into World No.9 and will be looking to maintain this momentum in tomorrow's Halfpipe contest. Tim Humphrey's (USA) who, after today, sits in World No.15, is poised to crack into the TTR Top 10.

The Halfpipe finals tomorrow at Alts Bandai are pivotal to the TTR Title races as this is one of the riders' last chances to move up before the Tour defining 6Star events at the Burton U.S. Open and Roxy Chicken Jam. $200 000 USD, reputations and glory are all at stake and this will be pushing all riders to do everything in their power to crack the TTR Top 5. Log on to www.go211.com for live coverage of tomorrows event. Also don't forget to check out www.ttrworldtour.com for fresh videos, news, rankings, all coming to you as it happens in land of the rising sun.

Transition Bikes new alloy Bank hardtail, a superlight package...

The latest offering from Transition Bikes is the new alloy Bank hardtail. The Bank represents the evolution of alloy hardtails in a superlight package that is worthy of almost any style of riding. The Bank is skilled at dirt jumping, 4X, Dual Slalom and overall trail shredding. At 4.9lbs it is definitely not a freeride hardtail but in the hands of a skilled rider it can handle almost any type of riding.

"We originally designed this bike because we wanted a light weight, new school, alloy hardtail that could be setup single speed or geared for a variety of disciplines. Since the Trail-or-Park has evolved into a dedicated single speed dirt jumper, we wanted an option for riders looking to run a full selection of standard MTB parts. Our racers were looking for a responsive, geared 4x/DS hardtail with a little more stability than the Trail-or-Park. After prototype testing we found the bike also shined at skate parks, dirt jumps and a bit of trail riding as well. The bike is incredibly responsive due to the stiff frame, dialed geometry and light weight. It is so easy to throw around berms and jumps you almost feel like you are cheating. This bike was not designed to replace our freeride hardtail, the Vagrant, but it is still a worthy option for some trail riding, depending on the rider's preferences," says Kevin Menard, co-owner of Transition Bikes.

The Bank features a unique dropout system that allows riders to run gears or singlespeed in a ultra clean package. The rotating axle positioning system is an eccentric design that takes up chain slack as you rotate it. Transition has coined this dropout system C.R.A.P which stands for "Custom Rotating Axle Positioning". "We're all pretty stoked on this new C.R.A.P system as it really gives a clean looking rear end of the bike without sacrificing the function for both singlespeed setups and geared setups. We feel this system has alot of merit so don't be surprised if you start seeing C.R.A.P. on some of our other models in the future," says Kyle Young, designer of C.R.A.P. and co-owner of Transition Bikes. The design of the bike is rounded out with a once piece CNC'd chainstay yoke for ample tire clearance, standard ISCG tabs, and tapered stays for a clean look. The Bank comes in 3 color options: Red & White Fade, Green or White and 3 sizes all with 13.25" seat tubes for extra clearance.

Frames are available now! For more information contact your local Transition Bikes Dealer or click here.
